A bawling fun time

Mr Kat just got back from HK where he almost blew all his bonus away.
Kidding hahahaha.
So he got a 2gig thumbdrive there for only $20++!
And he didnt even think of getting one for me since my thummie is fast running out of space!
I was suppose to meet up with Gery to discuss Lit stuff for next year but the poor dear is down with the flu bug.
So I ended up chatting away with Kar Sien in school.
Vanitha was also here to keep me company while she waited for Chin Fen to come.
Kar Sien got us each a magnetic clip with engravings ranging from pandas (in HK? I was wondering about that too..hahahaha) to riverboats.
And since he felt that he wasnt really part of the Topshop gift card that the rest got for me on my bdae, he got me a PUMA sweater!
Yay-ness!
At first i tot it was an imitation piece, you noe, since he came back from imitation paradise.
Hahahaha.
But heck, he got me an original old skool sweater!
I had wanted this ash-blue colour but i jus couldnt find a nice one in Spore.
Lookie!

My gift from KarSien.............Me posing in it, doing i dunno what hahahaha!
I also got a few other gifts from my overseas-faring colleagues.

Bee Leng gave me a nice handmade wallet from Cambodia...She let me choose the colour that i wanted hahaha.
And Meow gave me a whiskey cup with couple of nougats from Australia.
Dunno if you can see but i have geckos on my whiskey cup!

We actually asked Janne out to bowl with us but she couldnt make it at the last minute and since Chin Fen and Van were working on their SOW, it was left to Karsien and myself to salvage the rest of the afternoon.

We went down to our usual bowling haunt and decided that 3 games a piece should suffice.
The queue was rather long so while waiting, we went down to the arcade and tried our hands at Dayton Racing.
I beat Kar Sien in the first time round but he managed to pull one back in the second.
Sounds like tennis dunnit?
Hahaha.
Yes, Mr Kat, we all noe you are a tennis freak!
Got some photos of our "fierce" match at the bowling alley.
Us, preparing to duel.
Kar Sien showing off his bowling prowess.
Hehehe.

Nat...the calm before the storm hahaha.
This was how Kar Sien looked when i beat him in first game.
Muhahahaha.
He came back strong in the second game and won.
I had such a dismal number of pin drops.
I was ashamed.
I tot i could make a comeback in the 3rd round but i failed again.
But they say, if first you dun succeed, try and try again!
Kar Sien was fast losing his strength and i took back the 4th game.
(We decided to play another game hahahaha)
So we had a draw at the end of the day.

BUT was Kar Sien satisfied?
NOOOOOOOO!
He wanted to play another game.
I was too tired and my wrist was already hurting so Kar Sien played on his own to better his pin drops.
Must say he's competitive and determined that way.
Hahahaha.

Kar Sien did better his score and he had to open his big mouth and suggested that we have dessert.
We went to West Mall and we had initially wanted to eat Swensens or Sakae Sushi but the queues were so darn long!
We went up a level higher.
Kar Sien: "Eh BaliThai looks empty..."
Nat: "I want Swensens'...we just wait lah.."
Kar Sien: "I repeat...BaliThai looks empty."
Nat: "Fine..we shall dine there....grrr.."
It was such a bad bad mistake.
The food totally suxed.
I wanted Tom Yum noodle but guess what?
According to Kar Sien "BALI" comes first in BaliThai, so i shouldnt be surprised to find out that they do not serve Tom Yum noodle.
But what puzzles me is the fact that they have Tom Yum soup but not Tom Yum noodle.
Is it so hard to just add rice noodle to the soup????!!!
So i ended up ordering Phad Thai...something which Ra introduced to me while we were in Bangkok and i really liked it.
The Phai Thai in BaliThai is a far far cry from the one i had in Bangkok.
It tasted as though someone accidentally spilled an entire bottle of tomato sauce into it!
Kar Sien forced himself to eat the horrible green curry chicken which tasted as though it came fresh from a can!
You should have seen us laughing non stop in the presence of bad food.
The only good thing was the hotplate beancurd.
But that too was marred by the lack of beancurds in the dish.
With a plate that big, you would think that there would be more than just 4 pieces of beancurds!!!!
The surprises at BaliThai didnt end there.
Not even close.
Kar Sien had to stand up and go to the counter to request for iced water before he choked to death.
Hahahaha.
The final surprise came when it was time to pay the bill.
It was Kar Sien's treat...i really felt bad cos he had to pay for such a horrid dinner.
I wanted to go Dutch but he was adamant on paying for the whole thing.
So iwas hell bent that dessert at Swensen's would be on me.
The freaking crackers served to us as appetizers costs 3 freaking dollars!
Wth!
My mum could have fried that for less than a dime!

The Phai Thai looked so inviting but looks can be deceiving.
We ended up not finishing our food...see!
Yuck factor: 8/10
2 words: NEVER AGAIN

Swensen's was definitely a welcome respite.
I got myself my fav Cookies Summit and Kar Sien got himself some Malted Milkshake.
And i spent the next 1 hr bitching to him about the kind of people i hate and how Noor and i got together.
Hahahahaha.
Thanks Mr Kat for the wonderful and not to mention, a memorable day out!
